Irish born and based milliner Mark T Burke has been hailed as one of the hot new talents in the Irish fashion industry. Winning Accessory Designer of the Year at the Golden Egg Irish Fashion Innovation Awards in March 2010, Mark has gone on to become a media favourite with his striking and feminine headwear.

Trained in textile design, Mark’s background in theatre and costume led him to a placement with the doyenne of milliners – Philip Treacy, also from Galway – where he discovered his true vocation. He describes his art as ‘Millinery… a happy marriage of textile design and sculpture.’

‘I can get ideas from all sorts of things, a fabric or feather, sometimes even a vase or bowl can give me ideas for a shape.’  – MARK T BURKE

Expect quirky, sculptural shapes, with more than a hint of theatre, ‘My work is quite structured, I like clean lines.’ Created by hand in Ireland, the vibrancy of each and every one of Mark T Burke’s designs is entirely unique. Fresh and funky, standout pieces from Mark’s summer collection include ‘Kate’ in neon bright orange and pink, while for the more classically inspired, ‘Mandy’ offers a twist on traditional black headwear.
